7 of the Best Ways to Make Money Right Now to Help Pay Your Bills

7 of the Best Ways to Make Money Right Now to Help Pay Your Bills9 min read

So maybe money’s not tight, but it’s not exactly right either.

It’s okay.

We’ve all been there.

Especially me; who pretty much lives off of side hustles.

Today’s cut-throat economy makes a great job with stable security extremely difficult to come by much less, a finding second job. But this doesn’t mean all hope is lost! Some of the best ways to make money don’t even involve going through the painful process of application, interview, wait two weeks, then find out whether or not you got the job. You need money, and you need it now, gosh dang it!

Here are 7 of the best ways to make money for when the times get tough.

1. Build Your Own Website

how to start a money-making blog

Got a niche or something you’re killer at? Use it to create a website and monetize your hobbies into dollars. You can easily have your website set up and ready to go in less than 10 minutes, with our in-depth guide!

Two of my favorite website builder websites are WordPress and Wix. WordPress is awesome because it gives you powerful insight into the performance of your website and you can organize it just to your liking. It’s not too difficult to use but it’s much more detailed than Wix.

Wix allows you to create aesthetically pleasing websites with a simple drag and drop interface and hundreds of templates to choose from. I highly recommend using Wix if you’ve never made a website before, or if technology and computers send you running in the opposite direction. Very user-friendly.

So how do you make money from a website you may ask? Monetization (this is a term we’ll visit again later in this article). Monetization is the process of converting something into money, or to earn revenue from that something. In this particular case, that something could be products or items you create for sale.

Or if you’re not selling anything, you can place advertisements and banners around your webpage using Google AdSense. Depending on the ads you select, you’ll be paid when a viewer clicks or views the ad. This means you earn, while you sleep (passive income, girl). Try reading this article for other creative ways to monetize your website.

2. Publish a Kindle eBook

Maybe you’re a Writer? A Photographer? A Chef? Publishing an eBook with Kindle: Direct Publishing is an excellent way to also earn some passive income. Anyone can write and publish an eBook for Amazon and it’ll stay available for purchase at the Kindle store for as long as you have it up for sale!

The most popular genre of eBook on the store is nonfiction so try to write something informative and intriguing that answers popular questions.

Now, if you really want to make this one of the best ways to make money, there’s one more thing you really need to focus on. The book’s cover! Remember how they told you in grade school not to judge a book by it’s cover? Forget all of that!

People opt for books with awesome covers so, take your time to create a gorgeous and alluring cover for your masterpiece. No need to be a super skilled graphic designer either! Use simple software like Canva and make a cover in less than 5 minutes.

Oh and I should mention, btw, you can set your own prices for your books and you earn 70% of every purchase. Yes, 70%. But this doesn’t mean set your prices at $30. People prefer eBooks to their paperback counterparts because eBooks are typically cheaper.

No one will purchase your eBook if it’s priced too high. A good price range for an eBook sits between $2 and $8. Keep this in mind when you write your content to avoid any costly mistakes.

3. Give Affiliate Marketing a Try

best ways to make money

Been keeping up with your social following? How’s your activity on Instagram and Facebook? Affiliate marketing goes hand in hand with creating your own website. The way it works is simple. You work as an affiliate or partner to a company and you earn commission on purchases made by customers through a specific affiliate link.

Example: I go to the Target website and apply to be a part of their affiliate program. Not all businesses have an affiliate program but most companies that do, have a link to the application to their affiliate program at the bottom of their website. Here is where I found Target’s.

After filling out the application, I wait to be approved by Target and they give me an affiliate link. I put this link on my website, Instagram, or blog and direct my followers to make purchases through that link. Target keeps track of when my affiliate link is used to make a purchase so I earn a commission on every purchased item.

Makes sense right? No? This article might clear things up if you’re still confused.

Most of the businesses we purchase daily items from like Walmart or Thrive Market, offer affiliate programs with different payout systems and commission percentages. So work with a company you love and trust. But either way, you’ll be earning by one of the best ways to earn money, passively.

Just take a look at what you can earn with Thrive Market’s Affiliate Program. Uhhh… where do I sign up?!

4. Try out Ridesharing or Delivery Driving

best ways to make money right now

Don’t you give me that look! It may not be a favorite among the best ways to make money but, ridesharing and delivery driving is a fantastic way to earn quick money that you can redeem at any time! I can tell you from experience being a rideshare driver with Uber that I was able to cash out the money I earned whenever I needed it.

I especially remember cashing out my earnings a day before my rent was due. I was able to make and receive the $200 I was short, all in one day! No BS.

There was a 50 cents fee for cashing out but no complaints here! Uber has peer-to-peer ridesharing available as well as food delivery so it’s up to you if you want to drive people around, or deliver food.

#antisocialites They also offer incentives for your first few rides and sign up bonuses, and if you don’t have a car, they still got you covered. You get out of this on-your-terms job exactly what you put in. Do you want more money? Offer more rides. It’s all under your control.

5. Try Freelance Work

best ways to make money

Freelance work is another way to make bank off of your hobbies. If you’ve got a knack for something that most people are terrible at, people would gladly pay you to do it. If you’re an artist, you can advertise your work on that brand new website you just created, and take advantage of social media to promote your goods.

Or if there’s an academic subject you really excel in, offer tutoring services and charge by the hour! Make yourself official with business cards and leave them in student life centers around campus to help get your name out.

You can also take advantage of freelancing platforms like Upwork that provide a space for businesses and freelancers to collaborate remotely. The website uses streamlined algorithms to highlight projects for freelancers that are based on your area of expertise.

So you can be sure to find some sort of work that is best fit for you! The coolest thing about Upwork is that all matters concerning your freelance work can be handled from within the site.

This includes an instant messaging feature, invoices, payment options, and even a mobile app. I wish platforms like this existed back when I was still looking for the best ways to make money.
