7 Unbelievable Health Benefits of Sleeping Naked. Reconsider Those Pajamas3 min read

Should you sleep naked? For those who claim to be foreign to the subject—relax. It’s nothing new, and people have been doing this forever. As for myself, yes, I do sleep naked from time to time. Especially during the summertime when a heat wave comes into town, why not ditch the pajamas?

Tossing and turning countless times before (hopefully) drifting to sleep is not enjoyable for anyone. And aside from this, there are many benefits of sleeping naked that you may or may not know about.

1. Improved genital health

In short, the most evident benefit of sleeping naked is improved genital health. As stated in an article published by Tuck: ‘’Airing out your private areas while you sleep is especially important for women (and men). Wearing underwear traps in moisture, allowing bacteria to thrive and possibly cause a vaginal infection in women or jock strap itch for men.’’

2. Improved sleep cycles

Although research is still being conducted on this fact, some studies have shown that wearing more fabric can actually disrupt the body’s process of creating HGH (human growth hormone) at night. Why is this important? HGH is responsible for repairing tissue, building muscle, and burning fat. Furthermore, some of this repair also goes towards your skin and hair.

Additional fact: The production of HGH gradually slows down as a person ages!

Good Sleep is Important

Here we give you some sleeping beauty tips…

3. Improved focus

In relation to the previous, better sleep cycles mean improved levels of focus throughout the day. Think about it. As stated in another article published by Tuck:‘’If you wake up during the night from getting too hot, it can interrupt your deep and REM sleep. These restorative stages of sleep are essential for cognitive functioning, mood regulation, and memory processing during your waking hours.’’

4. Improved stress and anxiety

It’s true! Although this is still being studied, a 2005 research investigation conducted by Physicians of Postgraduate Prsss concluded the following:

‘’Of all the psychiatric disorders associated with insomnia, depression is the most common. It has been estimated that 90%of patients with depression complain about sleep quality. Since the first reports of short rapid eye movement (REM) latency in depressed patients and of the effect of sleep deprivation on depression in the 1970s, numerous sleep studies have provided extensive observations and theoretical hypotheses concerning the etiology and pathophysiology of depression.’’

In relation to the previous, sleeping naked has the potential to improve these setbacks—however this is not guaranteed.

5. Improved self-esteem

Coming from my own experience I can personally say that knowing your body as oppose to just seeing your body plays a critical factor to one’s confidence and height of self-acceptance. Believe it or not sleeping naked feels and is also quite different to sleeping with pajamas or even minimal clothing. You feel free. You feel less detached from the ‘’social norm.’’ In some cases you may ultimately feel more connected to your soul and general wellbeing.

6. Improved relationship

While sex, devotion, and intimacy are great factors in a relationship, sleeping naked, as told by Healthline, ‘’stimulates the release of oxytocin, which plays an important role in building attachment between partners.’’

Additional fact: As summarized by Wikipedia: ‘’Oxytocinis normally produced by the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary. It plays a role in social bonding, sexual reproduction, and during and after childbirth.’’

7. Lowered risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes

A 2010 study conducted by NCBI (National Library of Medicine) insists that after studying 1,455 people over siz years, there was an association between lower sleep duration and increased risk of diabetes—which further leads to risk of heart disease.

Conclusion

Now that you know some of the most well-known benefits of sleeping naked, and why people do it, are you more included to ditch those new velvet long sleeves?
